Chem-Free & Quiet Housing

Chem-Free Housing Information

By selecting to live in Chem-Free Housing, you are declaring your intent to live in a Chem-Free community and agree to the following community expectations:

  • Students living in Chem-Free Housing agree not to consume alcohol, illicit drugs nor any tobacco product in or around the building. Said students also agree not to bring any of these substances into the Chem-Free residence;
  • Students are expected to act responsibly at all times and not return to the community in an intoxicated/drug impaired state;
  • Guests will be expected to abide by the same policies; and
  • Residents will hold their guests accountable to these policies.

Variation of chem-free housing, new for 2017-18 academic year, will allow for the consumption of alcholic beverages by residents and guests of legal drinking age in designated residences. No illicit drugs nor any tobacco or other smokeable product shall be consumed in or around the building. 

You should understand that if you engage in a behavior which proves to be disruptive to the living environment, you may be referred to Community Court and/or asked to move to another location which may or may not provide comparable accommodations. You also understand this behavior may affect your ability to take part in Chem-Free Housing in the future.


Quiet Housing Information

By selecting to live in Quiet Housing, you agree to the following:

  • Based on the number of submitted applications, both by overall total and by class distribution, you cannot be guaranteed a single room or a room in Quiet Housing;
  • You agree to live with 24-hour quiet hours as a condition of residency.

You should understand that if you engage in a behavior which proves to be disruptive to the living environment and your fellow dorm mates, you may be referred to Community Court and/or asked to move to another location which may or may not provide comparable accommodations. You also understand this behavior may affect your ability to take part in Quiet Housing in the future.
