Marlboro College seeks applications from broadly trained, dedicated teachers for a full-time, tenure-track position in Literature and Writing. Successful applicants will connect their teaching and scholarship to larger questions related to race, migration, transnational experience, colonial and postcolonial experience and empire. Responsibilities include teaching Anglophone, British and world literature in translation to undergraduate students, teaching in Marlboro's Clear Writing Program, directing tutorials in literature, working in collaboration with faculty in other disciplines, and contributing to Marlboro’s community governance. College teaching beyond the graduate assistant level preferred. PhD required by start date. Marlboro College is noted for its intellectual rigor, lively classroom discussion, and commitment to democratic process. We are committed to the development of clear writing and a global perspective. Our intentionally small undergraduate student body enjoys unparalleled access to faculty, a responsibility in governing the community, and individualized courses of study on our campus in the hills of southern Vermont. Marlboro College is an Equal Opportunity employer. The faculty, students, and staff share a commitment to diversity and the values of equality, inclusion, and respect for all human differences.
Application consideration begins November 10, 2017; position begins August 2018. All applicants must apply online at http://www.marlboro.edu/offices/hr/jobs/faculty/. Electronic attachments to the online application should include: a curriculum vitae; a letter of application; a proposal (one page or less) for a potential course team-taught with faculty outside your discipline; evidence of effective teaching, including statement of teaching philosophy, and course evaluations if available. In addition, applicants will need to provide the names and contact information for three references, at least one of whom should be able to speak to their teaching.
