Position Summary:

Provide mental health counseling services and programs to students to support their overall mental health and academic achievement.

Essential Functions/Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct one-on-one counseling services to students on an as-needed and emergency basis;
  • Schedule ongoing counseling sessions with students as necessary;
  • Perform clinical psychological assessment; determine appropriate treatment plan;
  • Determine if referral to outside service is appropriate and will best serve the needs of the student;
  • Perform ongoing clinical follow-up with external service providers to ensure student treatment is effective;
  • Assist students in the transitional return to campus life following hospitalization;
  • Prepare comprehensive treatment plans and records in accordance with prescribed clinical standards;
  • Plan and deliver mental health related training for Residence Advisors, students and student life staff members to foster a more comprehensive understanding of mental health conditions, their symptoms, treatment and appropriate emergency intervention methodologies;
  • Remain current on trends in psychological counseling techniques.

Position Requirements:

  • Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling or Social Work; 
  • Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor or equivalent  
  • 3+ years of related experience;
